Starting in 2015, Appalachian Symphony is one of the newest Pike County Extension Fine Arts programs. A mentoring program of sorts, experienced musicians meet twice a week to make music and teach anyone wanting to learn. There are knowledgeable and talented instructors for everything from the ukulele, to the piano, to a huge upright bass! The best part? These jam session classes are completely free! If you have your own instrument, feel free to bring it, but if not there are many to choose from at each session.

Although this is a relatively new program, the class size has grown each month and we’re looking forward to a bright and wonderful future with Appalachian Symphony! Currently, the Symphony meets at the Artists Collaborative Theatre in Elkhorn City on Tuesdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturdays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Check out the Appalachian Symphony Facebook group page for updates on class times. The friendly group will also answer all of your questions with lightening speed! You may also email Appalachian Symphony members Allen Gibson or Dave Sykes for additional information.
